Caring for Your Mongolian Wool Socks

Caring for Your Mongolian Wool Socks

Washing:

  • Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild, wool-friendly detergent.
  • Machine wash only on delicate/wool cycle, ideally in a mesh laundry bag.
  • Avoid hot water, bleach, or harsh detergents.

Drying:

  • Gently press out water — do not wring.
  • Lay flat to dry, away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Never tumble dry.

Storing:

  • Keep in a dry, breathable space.
  • Use cotton bags or drawers to protect from dust and moths.
  • Natural repellents like lavender or cedar can help preserve your socks.

With a little care, your Mongolian wool socks will stay warm, soft, and durable for years.

Founder Story

Shagai was born from my Mongolian roots and a deep appreciation for the warmth of our traditional wool. Growing up, I experienced firsthand how Mongolian wool—shaped by some of the harshest winters on Earth—creates materials that are naturally resilient, warm, and enduring. Yet outside of Mongolia, this remarkable fiber remains largely unknown. Through Shagai, I hope to share the beauty of Mongolian wool while honoring the traditions and herding communities that have cared for it for generations.
